The Danville Ironmen failed to score a single point in the first quarter
for the first time all season and trailed 14-7 midway through the second
quarter but Ironmen exploded to score 28 points in both the second and
third quarters to breeze by Wyalusing 62-20.
Anthony Sori had a career night, rushing just 11 times for 183 yards and three touchdowns while adding another score on a 62 yard touchdown pass from Andrew Andreychik with less than a minute remaining in the first half. Russell Heath added 85 rushing yards on 10 carries as the Ironmen racked up a ridiculous 337 yards on the ground Friday night.
After falling behind 14-7 In that third quarter Anthony Sori surpassed the 1,000 yard plateau on the season, becoming the second Ironmen running back to eclipse 1,000 yards rushing this season. Quarterback Andrew Andreychik broke Andrew Shoop’s single season passing touchdown record of 28 when he threw his 29th touchdown pass of the season to Owens-Wright earlier in the quarter.
The Lewisburg the number two seed in the District IV playoffs defeated Bloomsburg 21-20 and will host Towanda the three seed this weekend. Towanda knocked off Hughesville 51-21 Friday night. November9 , 2010 Undefeated Ironmen Show Support for Undefeated T-Railers Just two days after the varsity football team defeated Warrior Run 49-9, wrapping up Danville’s first 10-0 regular season in 11 years, the Danville Football Program took time out of their Sunday off-day to support another undefeated Danville football team. The Danville T-Railer Purple B squad put their undefeated season of their own on the line Sunday afternoon when they hosted the Ralpho Township Raiders in the Super Bowl of the local midget football league. Many of the members of this year’s undefeated varsity team showed up to cheer on the Purple B T-Railers, including senior linebacker/center Dylan Dailey. November 9, 2010 Danville Booster Club Hosts Pep Rally and Bon Fire on Thursday A pep rally and bon fire will be held for the Danville Ironmen football team this Thursday, November 11 at 7:00 PM at the Danville Middle School. Danville meets Wyalusing in the first round of the District IV AA Playoffs the following night at Danville Ironmen Stadium. The Ironmen Football team along with the marching band and cheerleaders will be featured. Your host for the rally will be Athletic Director, Ron Kanaskie and speakers will include head coach Jim Keiser, his assistants and other special guests. BE THERE!! November 5, 2010 Danville Captures Perfect Season with 49-9 Victory Over Warrior Run The Danville Ironmen defense forced five turnovers
and held the Warrior Run offense to just 132 total yards.
While the
Russell Heath went over 1,000 yards on the season carrying 12 times Friday night for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Sori rushed five times for 59 yards and two touchdowns and added a 38 yard punt return for a touchdown as Danville scored six times in the first half to open a 42-0 advantage at the intermission. The defense carried momentum from last week’s thrilling come from behind victory over Bloomsburg to hold Warrior Run to just 76 rushing yards on 31 carries (2.45 per rush). The Ironmen also intercepted the first three Warrior Run passes of the game setting up the offense with great field position. The Defenders top running back Austin Oberdorf needed 130 yards to break the Warrior Run single season rushing record, Danville held him to 43 yards. David Vitunac scored his first career touchdown, hauling in a 66 yard pass from Weston Baylor in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring for the Ironmen. The 2010 Ironmen are the first Danville squad to post a 10-0 record since 1999. That 1999 team went on to win 11 games while capturing the district IV AAA title. This year’s squad is in search of the AA title and will have home field advantage throughout the district playoffs.
October 29, 2010 Ironmen Rally to knock off Bloomsburg 34-30 in Dramatic Fashion Senior Anthony Sori, one of the Ironmen's leading rushers was held in check for 46 minutes by the Bloomsburg defense, rushing seven times for just 16 yards. In the final two minutes Sori caught two passes both for touchdowns including the game winning score with 54 seconds to play, just two plays after Adam Raup blocked a Bloomsburg punt. Danville refused to quit in fourth quarter as they found themselves down 10 points on three separate occasions in the final frame. Quarterback Andrew Andreychik threw for three touchdowns in the fourth quarter alone and the Ironmen defense made just enough stops to keep Danville in the game. The Ironmen were outgained for the first time this season 405-350 as the running game netted a season low 121 yards. Andreychik picked up the slack completing 12 of 24 passes for 229 yards all career highs with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Garrett Llewellyn finished the contest with six grabs for 95 yards including a 54 yard touchdown reception that cut the Bloomsburg lead to 23-20 midway through the fourth quarter. After Danville surrendered a Panther scoring drive, Bloomsburg led 30-20 with just minutes to play and the Ironmen faithful saw a perfect season slipping away. Andreychik would respond hitting Sori for a 33 yard touchdown to narrow the deficit to just three at 30-27 with just under two minutes to play. Danville's onside kick attempt was unsuccessful but the Ironmen defense was able to force Bloomsburg to punt at midfield. Raup came clean off the left side of the line, ran through a Bloomsburg protector and blocked the Panther punt, teammate Dylan Dailey recovered at the Bloomsburg 25 yard line with Danville trailing 30-27 with 1:16 still left on the clock. After Russell Heath was stopped for a loss of one, Sori ran under a pefectly placed touch pass from Andreychik to give Danville their first lead of the game, 34-30 with 54 seconds left. Bloomsburg managed to moved the ball all the way to the Ironmen 25 yard line on the games last possession. But the defense came up with one last stand sacking the Panther's Blake Rankin with 14 seconds remaining. Bloomsburg with no timeouts was unable to get another play off before the clock hit 00:00. Danville will look to put the finishing touches on a 10-0 season when the host Warrior Run this Friday at Danville Ironmen Stadium. The Ironmen Football Program will honor its graduating seniors in a ceremony prior to the start of Friday night's contest. October 22, 2010 Danville Rolls Over Shamokin 55-7, Improves to 8-0 Andrew Andreychik completed four out of five passes for 133 yards, all of which went four touchdowns and the Ironmen out gained Shamokin 365-252 on their way to a 55-7 victory. The Ironmen will face a tough 7-1 Bloomsburg squad Friday night. Danville used an overpowering running game to set up Andreychik and the Ironmen passing attack. The Ironmen carried the football 28 times on the night for a total of 232 yards, 8.3 yards per rush. Danville's running attack was paced by Russell Heath who ended the contest with 15 carries for 105 yards and one touchdown. Anthony Sori rushed for 98 yards on six carries and two touchdowns and freshman Eric Haney was handed the rock once for a 31 yard touchdown. Mikeal Owens-Wright caught three balls for 116 yards and three touchdowns while Garrett Llewellyn caught one pass for a 17 yard score. Andreychik has thrown at least two touchdowns in every game but the Ironmen's 21-7 victory over Shikellamy in the season opener and has thrown 11 touchdown passes over the last three games. Danville's defense was stout once again holding Shamokin to just 2.6 yards per rushing attempt. The Ironmen defense also forced Shamokin into three turnovers including a Russell Heath interception for a touchdown in the first quarter.
October 15, 2010 Ironmen Remain Unbeaten With 28-18 Victory Over Southern Mikeal Owens-Wright grabbed eight balls for 180 yards and two touchdowns as the Danville Ironmen picked up a huge 28-18 win over heated rival Southern Columbia. Danville, 7-0 on the season face a tough Shamokin team this Friday night.The Ironmen outgained Southern 386 yards to just 276 yards on the night and the Ironmen defense kept Southern off the scoreboard until the second half. Danville took the opening kickoff and marched right down the field for an early touchdown. Owens-Wright capped off the drive with an 18 yard pass reception from quarterback Andrew Andreychik. Danville's offense struck again in the second quarter this time it was Anthony Sori who scampered off the right side for a 60 yard touchdown run. Danville took a 14-0 lead into the halftime break but Southern refused to go away without a fight. Jake Morton scored on an eight yard run for Southern on the opening possession of the second half to cut the Ironmen lead to 14-6 after a failed extra point. The Ironmen answered the Southern scoring drive of their own. Russell Heath plowed into the end zone from one yard out to push the Danville lead back to 21-6. Heath rushed for 82 yards on 21 carries while Sori added 82 yards on 15 carries. Southern scored a
pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter but Andreychik connected with
Owens-Wright for a 72 yard touchdown pass and the Danville Ironmen
offense ran nearly five minutes off the clock to ice their 28-18
victory. Andreychik finished the night 9-18 for 204 yards and two

Garrett Llewellyn caught six
balls for 106 yards and four touchdowns as the Andreychik and
Llewellyn opened the second half scoring with a 12 yard connection that
extended the Ironmen lead to 35. Senior

were dominant on both sides of the ball, especially on offense where the
O-line paved the way for 401 yards rushing. Sori rushed 8 times for 149
yards and Heath carried 14 more times for 133 yards and a touchdown.

Andrew Andreychik completed
seven out of eight passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns and the
Ironmen defense stymied the Milton air attack holding them to just seven
yards total through the air as Danville improved to 5-0 with a 45-6
victory over the Milton Black Panthers. Andreychik averaged
over 24 yards per attempt on the afternoon, hooking up with five
different Ironmen receivers.

platoon of backs to churn out 200 yards on the ground on just 24

For the first time since 1921 the Danville Ironmen scored 56 points in consecutive weeks. Last week the Ironmen trounced Central 56-7, this week Danville tallied 56 more points in a 56-6 rout of Mifflinburg. Next up for the undefeated Ironmen is Milton on Friday, October 1st at Ironmen Stadium. After scoring just 14 points in the first quarter on an 80 yard run by Russell Heath and a 20 yard reception by Mikeal Owens-Wright, Danville exploded for 28 points in the second quarter. Heath carried the ball 17 times for 233 yards and two scores on the evening. Trevor Leitzel, Owens-Wright and Andrew Andreychik also found the end zone on the ground. Owens-Wright scored four times in all including three times in the second quarter alone. Andreychik went 4-5 for 77 yards and three touchdown passes, all to Owens-Wright. The duo connected on scores of 20 yards, 10 yards and 21 yards. Owens-Wright capped the first half scoring with a 6 yard touchdown run. 12 different Ironmen carried to ball to compile 397 yards on the ground. The Ironmen out gained Mifflinburg 464 to 277 on the evening thanks to the tough Ironmen defense who forced five more turnovers. After allowing the Wildcats to move ball deep into Ironmen territory on the game's first drive Jeff Ross intercepted his first career pass to end any scoring threat. Owens-Wright who had a historical night on the offensive side of the ball also came down with an interception his fourth over a three game stretch. The defense surrendered just one touchdown on the night which came on the last play from scrimmage.

The Ironmen defense scored twice and the offense racked up 359 yards of total yards as Danville scored 56 first half points to roll over Central Columbia 56-7. The Ironmen improve to 3-0 on the season and face Mifflinburg next on Friday, September 24. In the first half the Danville offense scored on plays four yards, 11 yards, 25, yards, 40 yards and 48 yards to open a huge early lead. The defense more impressively scored points on and 11 yard interception by Garret Llewellyn, a 43 yard punt return from Anthony Sori and a 40 yard interception return by Mikeal Owens-Wright. 11 members of the Ironmen squad carried the ball including Sam Dressler who rushed for a 40 yard touchdown run. Andrew Andreychik completed 8 of his 12 attempts for two touchdowns. Back up quarterback Weston Baylor had a solid Varsity debut completing a 15 yard pass and rushing five times for 22 yards. Danville held Central to just 93 yards in the game and just
five total first downs. On the other side of the ball the Ironmen
pounded out 210 yards on the ground alone and moved the chains 14 times.

For the second consecutive week the Danville Ironmen Football team used a physical running game and stout defense as a formula for victory. After allowing Selinsgrove to drive the length of the field for a touchdown in the games first possession the Ironmen outscored the Seals 28-3 over the next 30 minutes to open an impressive 28-9 advantage after three quarters of play. Danville and Selinsgrove exchanged two touchdowns each in the final quarter. The Danville backfield carried the ball 41 times for a total of 312 yards, while the defense held the Seals to just 151 yards on the ground on 36 attempts. Anthony Sori had another stellar night racking up 271 all purpose yards including a 68 yard touchdown run in the first quarter to answer Selinsgrove's opening drive. Sori averaged 15.4 yards per carry and finished the contest with 154 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Andrew Andreychik threw for two touchdowns and ran for another while Russell Heath tallied 116 yards on the ground and ran for two touchdowns. Andreychik's two yard scamper in the second quarter opened a 14-6 advantage for the Ironmen. To open the Ironmen's second half scoring Andreychik found freshman Sam Dressler open for a score, then after a Selinsgrove turnover he connected with Garret Llewellyn who was alone behind the Seal's secondary for his second touchdown pass in less than a minute. The Ironmen defensive did more than hold their own against the defending AAA State Champions. Danville held Selinsgrove to 296 total yards and forced three turnovers. Senior Mikeal Owens-Wright intercepted Justin Keiser twice and Jeff Ross forced a fumble that was recovered by Russell Heath. The next play Andreychik hooked up with Llewellyn for a 36 yard TD strike. The Ironmen are back in action this Friday night when the play host the Central Columbia. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Danville Ironmen Stadium.

September 3, 2010 Sunbury, PA- The 2010 Danville Ironmen Varsity Football Team got the 2010 season started off on the right foot with a 21-7 victory over the favored Shikellamy Braves. The Ironmen dominated play for most of the evening outgaining the Braves 385 yards to just 215 yards, including 350 yards on the ground to Shik's 77. Russell Heath rushed for two touchdowns and tallied 132 yards on the ground on just 15 carries to pace Danville's offensive attack. Anthony Sori rushed eight times for 100 yards including a touchdown and Kody Getkin rushed six times for 73 yards. Quarterback Andrew Andreychik completed two passes for 35 yards and carried the ball six times for 41 yards. The Ironmen defensive which played solid all night held the Braves scoreless until late in the third quarter when Shik scored their only touchdown of the game. Danville's defense was able to force the Braves into four turnovers (3 fumbles, 1 interception) on the night. Next up for the Ironmen are the Selinsgrove Seals, the
defending AAA state champions. The Seals lost their opener 14-0 to
Mt. Carmel. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Ironmen Stadium. |
